The Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the Peruvian Andes, is made up of numerous rivers that descend by gorges and small valleys; It has numerous archaeological monuments and indigenous towns. This valley was very appreciated by the Incas due to its special geographical and climatic qualities.
In the Sacred Valley of the Incas beautiful colonial towns that were created, and that today show their miscegenation in architecture, art and living culture. There are the villages of Chinchero and its weavers, Písac and its artisan fair, Urubamba and its cosmopolitanism, Ollantaytambo, with its fortress and its Inca people alive. And Maras Moray with its dazzling Salinaras, in these territories, of the Sacred Valley, diverse communities have created products of rural tourism and experiential tourism that amaze both locals and strangers. Each of them is a world in itself, and together, they make up an unprecedented way to get to know the most traditional region of the South American Andes.
Itinerary
WE HAVE 2 OPTIONS TO DO THE SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS.
In option 1 we have a tour of the classic sacred valley where you can explore the following places, the archaeological center of Pisaq, which was one of the most important resting places and control point in time of the Incas as well as the only place where You can appreciate an entire mountain where the Incas used as a cemetery with more than 10 thousand tombs, you can still see it, after finishing exploring we went to the archaeological center of Ollantayambo, this was a religious, administrative, political military center, one of the most important in time and the Incas, the most important is the temple of the sun with a megalithic construction, perfect architecture and with a quarry of more than 6 kilometers.
For this tour we leave from Cusco at 7:30 in the morning and finish at approximately 5:00 pm.
OPTION 2.- SACRED VALLEY MAGIC (CHINCHERO, MORAY, MARAS Y OLLANTAYTAMBO)
In this option we will have the opportunity to visit the archaeological centers of Chinchero, Salineras de Maras, Moray and Ollantaytambo, the most interesting is to visit the textile center of the Quechua weavers of the Andes that are unique in the Andes that still maintain the tradition of the ancestors here we will receive a demonstration of how it is woven, dyed, washed, dried etc. then we will go to explore the archaeological center of chinchero and then Continue to Moray. The ancient ruins of Moray are different from other well-known Inca sites in the Urubamba Valley. Here the Inca found highly unusual geologic formations, which they shaped and embellished to create a landscape masterpiece. Its purpose has been debated for decades since it was rediscovered from the air in 1931. Continue to Maras salt ponds – a “field” of white where salt from an actively flowing underground stream has evaporated and pooled on the surface above. Each pond is owned and harvested by a local family. then we will explore ollantaytambo for an hour more Ollantaytambo.
